Launched in 1981 the Biturbo was a completely different product for Maserati, but proved successful and adaptable. A small capacity (1996cc) V6 was coupled to two turbochargers (hence the name) and mounted in the front driving the rear wheels. A rather conservative and boxy in-house designed two-door body completed the package. Performance was brisk with the 2-cam, 18 valve (two inlet and one exhaust per cylinder), carburetor fueled engine producing 180bhp. Later the engine (still with 3-valves and carburetors) was taken out to 2.5-litres in capacity. A wide range of power outputs were obtained during the life of the engine by adding intercoolers, injection, catalysts etc.
MY Engine: 2491cc (91.6x63mm) three-valve twin-turbo V6 with 210bhp @ 5,500rpm

My company car daily driver is for sale, she is the stock Pewter (like the brochure photo above) with perfect tan leather and suede interior. Driver seat shows little wear as she has ALWAYS had sheepskins on her. New tires and brakes. Valves adjusted 5,000 miles ago. ALL fluids changed 18 months ago to 'racing' specs and synthetic. Updates include the AC system (for hot California summers), oversized brass radiator, and numerous small performance upgrades all performed during the last 10+ years by www.stewartsauto.com (he was the mechanic when Maser had a dealership here in Sacramento). I am the second owner of this car and have ALL paperwork from the time she left the dock in California in 1983. She has always been a California car and has 0 rust.
Major rebuilds include: transmission, rear end, front rack. ALL vacuum lines and other related rubber hoses have been replaced. Complete new exhaust system/performance muffler (sans pre-cats and is still smog legal in California which is the harshest in the US) which gives her added HP & a very nice note!
Engine
specs to within 10% for compression and turbos are stock and 100%. Spare parts
include: original rear end, spare stock rim and misc. interior trim with a few
odds and ends. ALL parts for this car are available at MIE in Seattle and I
would recommend joining their Maser club for the people and very fun sporting
car events.
